Calderon's Company - A 16th Century New World Garrison, is a group of living-historians based at De Soto National Memorial, in Bradenton, Florida. The organization is named after Captain Pedro Calderón, who was left in charge of the base camp and port, when Hernando de Soto began his entrada into La Florida in June of 1539.

California Military Museum: Spanish & Mexican Period - This page is part of the more extensive site for the California Military Museum in Sacramento. Wills of a Father and Son and A Contribution to the American Revolution - This article, written by a descendiente (Virginia Sanchez) describes her research into the wills of New Mexican soldados around 1800. The equipment that is listed in the wills makes this very useful to the Spanish Colonial (Presidial) reenactor. In addition, there are links to books on the sidebar that also might be of interest to more general Spanish Colonial history. Original drawings of 1720 Soldados de Cuera - The Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe, NM has the Segasser Hide Paintings on display. This is the only place on the web where I've found any representations of these important 1720 drawings. Click on the thumbnail to bring up a bigger picture.

Anza 2000 - A dedication of one of the camping sites for the Anza expedition to found San Francisco, conducted in early 1999, hopefully in preparation for some 225th commeration festivities.

Tumacacori NHP: High Mass - This event is held twice a year at NHP: Mision San Jose de Tumacacori. Interpretive dress is a requirement to attend the mass itself, and there are clothing suggestions to assist new reenactors. You can usually meet Capitan Anza there (Don Garate) as well as other soldados.

San Pasqual Battle Day 2000 & 2001 - Under this main page are pages for both the 2000 and 2001 historical interpretation and all around good time event. As usual, the Californios make shish-ka-bob of the hated Gringos of the US 1st Cavalry. A whole lot of pictures on each page, so it takes some time to load, but breath of the reenactment is clearly visible (and so are Sargento Joe Lopez & Dona Suzanne!).

San Antonio Living History: Glory at the Alamo - This is a report from a San Antonio newspaper on the "Glory at the Alamo," a presentation by SALHA (see above) of the 13-day siege that ended on March 6, 1836, with the fall of the mission fortress.

Goliad Reenactment of Fannin Massacre - As reported in MySanAntonio, there were some very cheerful Texians killed at the latest reenactment of the defeat and subsequent massacre of Fannin's troops at the Presidio La Bahia. Several interesting pictures included in this report.

Pirate Festival at the Mission San Juan Capistrano - Pirates? At San Juan Capistrano? Well, yes, Bouchard did attack the mission in 1818, and there is an event every October. San Agustin Anniversary of its Founding - St. Augustine turns 437 today, and residents celebrated Founder's Day Saturday with a re-enactment of the first Spanish landing and a festival at the Plaza de la Constitucion.

Rancho Camulos Museum - The Rancho Camulos Museum is located on the site of the rancho founded in 1859, which was originally part of the Rancho San Francisco. La Purisima Mission - La Purisima Mission State Historic Park contains the eleventh of twenty-one Spanish Missions established in Alta California. This site shows off through some extensive picture tours (Java) the location and events of interest to Spanish Colonial reenactors, along with schedules of events.

Spanish Quarter - St Augustine - Interactive guide to the living history musuem behind the tourista exterior of San Augustin, with text and photos of the buildings and people of the Village, the Government House museum, and the military hospital.

Mission San Luis Apalachee - This site talks about the early capitol of La Florida from 1656 to 1704. They are in the process of developing a living history program. Another place for our East Coast soldados e amigos.

Rancho de Las Golondrinas - The Ranch of the Swallows, a Spanish Colonial living history museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Soldados (1820 or so) and Colonial civilians can be seen in the pictures.

El Real Presidio de Santa Barbara - This California State Historic Park is run by the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation. This particular site is part of the larger SBTHP site, which is a nicely framed site containing an online searchable research catalog and upcoming events at the Presidio, the Casa de la Guerra and the Santa Inez mills (two additional historical locations maintained by the Trust).

Castillo De San Marcos - This National Monument, run by the National Park Service is where the Garrison of San Agustin does its cannon work, as well as hanging out there for special events.

Fort Mose: Free African Settlement - In Spanish Colonial Florida, Fort Mose was established as a free African community by the Spanish Governor at San Agustin. This website supports the efforts of the St. Agustine Historical Society to build a living history site dedicated to bringing this first free black Spanish settlement to life. Click on the Participate tag to get to a collection of links with information about Fort Mose.

Los Adaes State Historic Site - This website for the Lousiana State Park for Los Adaes, one time capital of Tejas, is just in the early stages of development. There are links to nearby sites, especially Fort St. Jean Baptiste. These two forts, Spanish and French, were at the very end of the world for their respective mother countries.

San Juan de Tumacácori National Historical Park - This website is the in-depth site for the Mission NHP, and contains information about costuming, events and access to the Mission 2000 online database of inhabitants of the area during the period the mission was in existence. The website has a picture tour of the park, as well as information on Father Kino and related missions in the area.

La Purisima Mission section of Lompoc-CA.Com - This site has some historical information and photos of the reconstructed mission. It also has pictures of the mission vieja, the original site of the mission, which are unique and difficult to find. A calendar of events for the mission is also present.

Fort Mose Historic Site - Gracia Real de Santa Teresa de Mose, or Fort Mose, was the first legally sanctioned community of freed slaves in what is now the United States. This site contains articles on the history of the Fort during the F&I and Revolutionary War.

Presidio de San Francisco - This page is part of the larger NPS site for the Golden Gate National Recreation area, and is about the only information on the Spanish years of Presidio of San Francisco that can be found within the Presidio of San Francisco pages. There is a picture of a model of the Presidio, as well as one of some sort of mummified Soldado de Cuera.

San Diego Presidio Park & the Serra Museum - The Serra Museum sits on Presidio Hill in San Diego, just slightly above the original location of the Presidio de San Diego. The park has some walls showing outlines of some of the Presidio buildings, while the museum showcases San Diego history from the Native American, Spanish, and Mexican periods through 1848. This site contains information on exhibits, location, admission, and hours, along with some articles and educational materials.

Los Angeles Haciendas - This text site contains a list of all haciendas and adobes in Los Angeles, along with some in other counties. There is a brief history of each adobe, along with a web link to the site for each, if available.

San Bernardino Asistencia - This estancia of the San Gabriel Mission's rancho is a San Bernardino County Museum. Near Redlands, CA, the current location dates back to 1830, but the estancia itself was established in 1819.

La Hacienda de los Martinez - Taos, New Mexico - One of the few northern New Mexico style, late Spanish Colonial period "Great Houses" remaining in the American Southwest. Built 1804 by Severino Martin this was an important trade center and final terminus for the Camino Real. This subsite is part of the The Museum Association of Taos website, which maintains seven museums in the area.

Californio Music Page - Music was essential to the life of Old Californio society. This site contains RealAudio, MIDI and lyrics for Early Californio songs, including MP3 selections from the Lumis collection.

Los Californios, The Alta California Orchestra - Los Californios, The Alta California Orchestra, playing traditional dance music and songs of the early California mission and gold rush era. They are based in northern Alta California (up by San Francisco) and they recreate the Fandango, dance music of early California, and also an event to be celebrated.
